I wrote this in response to a person who had been told they had cancer.
May this give you some Hope in dealing with your cancer.
May this give you some Hope in dealing with your cancer.
To this date 2009 I am still cancer free.
When I read a Prayer request awhile back, I felt a need to reply, the person asking for prayers had cancer. So I thought I would reply and try and give him a little hope. I myself have been through chemotherapy, the hair loss and the total weakness you feel or will feel. I had lymph node Cancer (Non Hopkins Lymphoma) to the point it cracked my ribs. The Cancer was growing around my ribs, in both lungs; it was also under one arm. Every time I took my chemotherapy my blood count would go down and I would get a fever of over a hundred and the Doctor would make me go to the hospital, at least until they could get my blood count back up. (my ear infections caused this, I've had swimmers ear since 1977.)
God blessed me with this wonderful gift - for myself and others. The only thing I can tell you is when God allows suffering it is a blessing, it is not punishment. God has His reasons for allowing us this suffering to bear. We must always accept what comes our way as His Will. He allows us to suffer because He Loves Us. He shows us His Love in this way, even if we don't understand the WHY OF IT. We must never say why me, we must Thank God that he has chosen us for this mission of Love.
I have been free of Cancer now for seven years. When and if we suffer, even though we don't like the suffering we must embrace it as a long lost friend, in this way we accept God's Will. If I get it again, I must embrace it and accept it as God's Will for me. (A point to note: From the time I was told of the Cancer to the time it left, I was never concerned nor did I worry about it. I knew it was in God's hands and I did not have control.)
When we don't let go of the wheel and let God drive, it is hard for Him do anything with us, and He has to go where we lead Him instead of letting Him lead us. All of this because we are unwilling to let go of the wheel. This is because of our free will He gave us. God is humble and loving and knows what He wants, LET GO and enjoy the ride. Nothing worth doing is easy.
Saint Alphonsus de Ligouri said: "The greatest glory we can give to God is to do His will in everything. Our Redeemer came on earth to glorify His heavenly Father and to teach us by His example how to do the same." St Paul represents him saying to his eternal father: "Sacrifice and oblation thou wouldst not: But a body thou hast fitted to me...Then said: Behold I come to do thy will, O God. Thou hast refused the victims offered thee by man; thou dost will that I sacrifice my body to thee. Behold me ready to do thy will."
May the Peace & Love of Jesus and Mary flow into your heart and those of your family, of your friends, those who would do you harm in word or deed, so that they may turn back to the love & peace of their loving God. May the warm tears of Gods loving touch heal you spiritually and physically according to His will. May you join your suffering to Jesus' suffering and offer them up to the Father through Mary His Mother and Our Mother. Thy will be done Jesus not ours, Amen.

Whitney
