More Government is the answer?

Why is it that our government thinks they are the answer when they have been the problem for so long?

First I want to say emphatically that our government (when it follows the constitution) is and always has been a remarkable example of people working together (with different ideas), finding a way to encourage growth, free market and yes if you work hard you can be successful ideals.

That unfortunately is not what I see happening today. I see a government run amok, running around ringing their hands, throwing money anywhere and everywhere and before the dust can settle they decide to jump in there and throw more money into the mix. Can anyone tell me what they are doing? Now they are trying to do something that I absolutely abhor, they are at this very moment in Congress trying to pass a bill that will go in and tax earnings without hearings. Now I understand everyone's concern and outright anger (myself included) that those AIG executives received $164 million in bonus's. On the other hand I don't want to "after the fact" create a tax to take back that money. Why? Who would be next is why and because it is wrong, morally and ethically wrong.

This should be no surprise to anyone though. Take a look at who is leading the charge;

Congressman Barney Frank's, the man who said that Fannie & Freddie Mac where in great health. See this article from "business and media" for more information.
Senator Chris Dodd who actually knew about the exemption for contractually promised bonuses agreed on which was included in the $787 billion stimulus bill. This amendment was submitted by Sen. Dodd. Not to mention the "special" deal he received with his mortgage.

These are just a few of the "little" things that are of concern to me and should concern all American's.

Then add in the fact that a vocal group of elected officials don't believe in the dignity or sanctity of Human life.... When our elected officials care more about plant/animal life than they do human life, we are all in serious trouble.

Now in recent days we have had a government that has released documents to try and assuage...who, you? me? Do "they" even care who they are trying to appease? I don't think so. I don't believe in torture, however, my idea of torture is different than most people. Torture to me is when you cause physical damage. You know like pulling fingernails out, tying a persons arms behind their back and suspending them from the ceiling by those arms, beating them with bamboo sticks (oh that's right the Japanese & Vietnamese did that), injecting them with various drugs, gassing them (oh that's right it was the Germans that did that). This is just to name a few of what I consider torture. Pouring water over their face, while frightening, is not life threatening. Putting them in a box with insects, while not my favorite thing to do, is still not violent. Killing 3000 innocent American citizen's who did nothing but show up for work that morning on September 11, 2001, that was violence, that was murder. If my government used "enhanced" interrogation techniques in order to keep something like that from happening again, I'm glad they did. I'm sad that we had to. I have not lost my "moral compass", I know that we did not kill, or maim one person using the techniques that were used, unlike the ones used against us in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

It is time that "We the people" stand up and tell those elected officials to do their jobs or lose them. Period.
