After the Election - Day 18

By Suzie Marcy

So now that the election is finally over and Donald J Trump is now our 45th President,  we wait to see if he truly is what he says he is.

I voted for him and VP Elect Mike Pence, for now I am not sorry that I did. As a matter of fact, I believe he is doing what he said he would, so far. I like who he has nominated for cabinet and advisory positions. He still has a few big positions left to fill and he is making the process interesting.

I continue to pray for our newly elected President & Vice President, their families and ours, our nation and the whole world. We need the prayers, so I am asking that you pray as well.

We also need to pray for the young people, who are being misled by people who don’t understand the meaning of the Freedom. They are angry that their candidate lost and they can’t seem to move forward, they are stuck in the moment. We (prayer warriors) need to pray for their understanding, their anger, their disappointment and their obvious resentment (picture the daily protests, some destructive).

We need “change”, real, honest and hope filled “change”. I hope that by voting for Donald Trump and Mike Pence that the change they promised, is the change we all were hoping for.

I personally believe they will deliver as promised and so does my husband.

Lawsuits Challenge Federal ‘Transgender Mandate’

Lawsuits Challenge Federal ‘Transgender Mandate’
The Becket Fund is warning of the potential consequences for children, who are covered under the mandate. It also questions the prudence of performing irreversible procedures on children when studies indicate that the vast majority of them — up to 94% — tend to outgrow their gender dysphoria (their identification with the sex opposite to their biological sex).

New Marriage Rite Offers Much-Needed Catechesis

New Marriage Rite Offers Much-Needed Catechesis
The new introduction goes on to speak of Christ’s raising the natural order of matrimony to a sacrament among the baptized, touching on Jesus’ presence at the Wedding at Cana and his role as Spouse to the Church. Drawing on this spousal imagery of Christ, it moves to the Pauline theology of matrimony found in Ephesians 5. In Ephesians, St. Paul teaches that the indissoluble nature of the sacrament signifies Christ’s own indissoluble union with his Bride, the Church.

Protest’s Riots and 2016 Election

On November 8, 2016, we all had the opportunity to vote for the next President, some of us chose to not exercise that honor. Those of us who voted for Trump/Pence are rejoicing, those who voted for Clinton/Kaine are sad and I truly understand that sadness. As a voter since 1972, I get it when our candidate loses, it isn’t fun. We were exercising our Constitutional right to FREE elections.

But not ONCE do I remember rioting in the streets! Nor did I protest in the streets that my candidate lost with a “NOT MY PRESIDENT” sign in my hand.

If you want a set outcome, move to oh let’s say Venezuela or Russia at least there you will know who the winner will be. Of course, if you protest the outcome you may forfeit your life or on the brighter side; spend some private time in jail. But hey, that’s what you wanted … right?

Or you could put on your big boy/girl pants and move on. Try volunteering in your community or better yet go to work, maybe then you will have a better understanding of what it means to be a citizen of the United States of America. Or you could read the Constitution: http://constitutionus.com/

I am deeply disturbed by those people who disrupt, dishonor and destroy other people’s property or physically harm others. I watched those protests/riots in Portland and I saw people there with their children (small children) and some also brought their pets, do you not understand what tear gas can do to them? What about the flash bangs that the police deployed? Do you even care?

Enough of my “rant”, you are guaranteed the right to “peaceful protest” by the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. I think it’s inappropriate, but you still have that right. It’s like the election, the candidate you voted for did not win but I’m asking you to give President Elect Trump a chance.

What have you got to lose?

Trump’s Triumph Powered by Religious Voters

Trump’s Triumph Powered by Religious Voters
Let us pray for our new president and our divided country. And let us hope that the new commander in chief might embrace the suggestion of the observation of Alexis de Tocqueville in Democracy in America. “Liberty,” he wrote, “cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.”

“Let us not see each other in the divisive light of Democrat or Republican or any other political party, but rather, let us see the face of Christ in our neighbors, especially the suffering or those with whom we may disagree,” he added Nov. 9.

Voting as a Catholic in a Challenging Election Cycle

Voting as a Catholic in a Challenging Election Cycle
We believe that the most basic, fundamental right that must be upheld and protected is the right to life for all individuals. This begins at the moment of conception and continues through natural death.

When it becomes too much to take, just remind yourself: We are subject
to felons and frauds only provisionally, and for a brief time. Jesus

Presidential Politics and the Abolition of Truth

Presidential Politics and the Abolition of Truth

“Your man has been accustomed, ever since he was a boy, to have a dozen
incompatible philosophies dancing together inside his head. He doesn’t
think of doctrines as primarily ‘true’ or ‘false,’ but as ‘academic’ or
‘practical,’ ‘outworn’ or ‘contemporary,’ ‘conventional’ or ‘ruthless.’
Jargon, not argument, is your best ally in keeping him from the Church.
Don’t waste time trying to make him think that materialism is true!”

Election 2016: A Supremely Important Decision

As we step into the voting booth on Tuesday, we are faced with a

— there is no issue more important than respect for the dignity of human

A Man Ahead of His Time vs. a Man for All Seasons

A Man Ahead of His Time vs. a Man for All Seasons

The man for all seasons does not bend with the times. He is prepared to
deliver a relevant message no matter what passing fancies or popular
trends cloud the cultural atmosphere. Tim Kaine is not a man for all
seasons; he is a man who is so far ahead of his time that his time will
never arrive. The Church will never change eternal truths.

Democratic ‘Front Groups’ or Faithful Political Engagement?

Hacked emails from the Center for American Progress, a liberal think
tank connected to those groups, and released by WikiLeaks in October,
confirmed for many their longtime suspicions that the groups are little
more than “astroturf” Catholic organizations planted to sow confusion
among the faithful and to dilute the Church’s witness in the public
square on issues such as defense of marriage and life.

In this Oct. 28 interview with the Register, Kevin Hartigan,
CRS’ regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia,
describes how the agency and the local Church are caring for tens of
thousands of people driven from their homes by the ongoing fighting for
Iraq’s liberation, bracing for tens of thousands more from Mosul, and
the importance of U.S. Catholics’ solidarity at this critical time.

Election 2016: Calling for a Revolution of Conscience

The cultural downfall includes “the vulgarization of popular culture and
entertainment, which has so deeply wounded our politics that they’ve
become another form of reality TV, producing a spectacle that should
shame us into a collective examination of conscience as consumers,”
observed George Weigel in a column in the journal First Things.

Trump vs. Clinton III — A Shift in Focus

“In the ninth month, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the
womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby,” Trump said.
“Now, you can say that that’s okay. And Hillary can say that that’s
okay — but it’s not okay with me.”

I Will Vote for Donald Trump & Never for Hillary or Third party Candidates.

As a Post Abortive mother of Sarah & Michael, who are in heaven, I have prayerfully chosen to vote for Donald Trump.

As vulgar as his rhetoric is, he has stated that he is Pro Life, I believe him.

Hillary Clinton  has stated that she believes in “choice”. So she is a Pro Abort candidate along with her running mate Tim Kaine (a CINO-Catholic in Name Only) who has used the tag line: “I personally don’t believe in abortion…but…

So you may see and understand how I came to this conclusion I have copied and pasted from the US Bishops “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship”. They explain (better than I can) why I cannot cooperate in a GRAVE EVIL by voting for Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine, Gary Johnson or Dr. Jill Stein.

I am praying that those of you who read this will take the time to pray and ask Our Lord and His Blessed Mother for guidance in doing the "right thing" for our nation but for ALL the children who are aborted every day. Lord have mercy on us poor sinners.

A Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who favors a policy promoting an intrinsically evil act, such as abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, deliberately subjecting workers or the poor to subhuman living conditions, redefining marriage in ways that violate its essential meaning, or racist behavior, if the voter's intent is to support that position. In such cases, a Catholic would be guilty of formal cooperation in grave evil.

22. There are some things we must never do, as individuals or as a society, because they are always incompatible with love of God and neighbor. Such actions are so deeply flawed that they are always opposed to the authentic good of persons. These are called "intrinsically evil" actions. They must always be rejected and opposed and must never be supported or condoned. A prime example is the intentional taking of innocent human life, as in abortion and euthanasia. In our nation, "abortion and euthanasia have become preeminent threats to human dignity because they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental human good and the condition for all others" (Living the Gospel of Life, no. 5). It is a mistake with grave moral consequences to treat the destruction of innocent human life merely as a matter of individual choice. A legal system that violates the basic right to life on the grounds of choice is fundamentally flawed.
26. St. John Paul II explained the importance of being true to fundamental Church teachings:
Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights-for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture-is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination. (Christifideles Laici, no. 38)
27. Two temptations in public life can distort the Church's defense of human life and dignity:
28. The first is a moral equivalence that makes no ethical distinctions between different kinds of issues involving human life and dignity. The direct and intentional destruction of innocent human life from the moment of conception until natural death is always wrong and is not just one issue among many. It must always be opposed.3
29. The second is the misuse of these necessary moral distinctions as a way of dismissing or ignoring other serious threats to human life and dignity. The current and projected extent of environmental degradation has become a moral crisis especially because it poses a risk to humanity in the future and threatens the lives of poor and vulnerable human persons here and now. Racism and other unjust discrimination, the use of the death penalty, resorting to unjust war, the use of torture,4 war crimes, the failure to respond to those who are suffering from hunger or a lack of health care, pornography, redefining civil marriage, compromising religious liberty, or an unjust immigration policy are all serious moral issues that challenge our consciences and require us to act. These are not optional concerns which can be dismissed. Catholics are urged to seriously consider Church teaching on these issues. Although choices about how best to respond to these and other compelling threats to human life and dignity are matters for principled debate and decision, this does not make them optional concerns or permit Catholics to dismiss or ignore Church teaching on these important issues. Clearly not every Catholic can be actively involved on each of these concerns, but we need to support one another as our community of faith defends human life and dignity wherever it is threatened. We are not factions, but one family of faith fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ.

It is important to consider what the Synod Fathers described as eucharistic consistency, a quality which our lives are objectively called to embody. Worship pleasing to God can never be a purely private matter, without consequences for our relationships with others: it demands a public witness to our faith. Evidently, this is true for all the baptized, yet it is especially incumbent upon those who, by virtue of their social or political position, must make decisions regarding fundamental values, such as respect for human life, its defense from conception to natural death, the family built upon marriage between a man and a woman, the freedom to educate one's children and the promotion of the common good in all its forms. . . . (Sacramentum Caritatis, no. 83)

42. As Catholics we are not single-issue voters. A candidate's position on a single issue is not sufficient to guarantee a voter's support. Yet if a candidate's position on a single issue promotes an intrinsically evil act, such as legal abortion, redefining marriage in a way that denies its essential meaning, or racist behavior, a voter may legitimately disqualify a candidate from receiving support.
44. Human life is sacred. The dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. Direct attacks on innocent persons are never morally acceptable, at any stage or in any condition. In our society, human life is especially under direct attack from abortion, which some political actors mischaracterize as an issue of "women's health." Other direct threats to the sanctity of human life include euthanasia and assisted suicide (sometimes falsely labeled as "death with dignity"), human cloning, in vitro fertilization, and the destruction of human embryos for research.
46. The human person is not only sacred but also social. Full human development takes place in relationship with others. The family-based on marriage between a man and a woman-is the first and fundamental unit of society and is a sanctuary for the creation and nurturing of children. It should be defended and strengthened, not redefined, undermined, or further distorted. Respect for the family should be reflected in every policy and program. It is important to uphold parents' rights and responsibilities to care for their children, including the right to choose their children's education.
